Lowell Douglas English (born August 25, 1953) is an American former professional football player who was a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions (19751985) of the National Football League (NFL). English attended the University of Texas.
Along with defensive end Al "Bubba" Baker, English was a cornerstone of the Lions feared "Silver Rush" defensive line of the late 70s and early 80s. In 1979, after recording 122 tackles (90 solo) and 6.5 sacks. Englishs best season came in 1983, when he recorded 13 sacks and two safeties, making him only one of 17 NFL players to record two safeties in a single season.
Member of the College Football Hall Of Fame. 2011

I sent Mr. English a letter, 8x10 photo, Blue Sharpie, and a SASE on 9/21/16, addressed to: C/O Power Driving Training Product LLC, 3736 Bee Cave Road, Ste. 1-221, West Lake Hills, TX 78746. SASE returned 10/1/16 with 8x10 signed and personalized in blue. Sorry no photo. |
